There comes a time in a persons life when they experience pain, humiliation, loss, and disappointment. We tend to allow these interruptions to hold us back and possibly keep us from moving forward.I remember a pastor speaking on this a while ago. He talked about how, in the midst of a storm, the power can go out. Usually when the power comes back on, the time on the clocks are usually off by a few hours. The storm represents our situation, the clock is our life. Just because we have disruptions in our daily living, it does not mean that our life is over. We tend to hold on to our situations or the past and all it does is slow us down. Once we decide to let these things go....

Blessed and Highly Favored (Repost from Sept 2009)
These past few weeks have really shown me WHO God is and how much he loves me. Time and time again, HE has shown favor towards myself, my family, and those who surround me.
As some of you know, this past week, my state was hit with a rainstorm that claimed 6 lives in our county alone. The night of the storm, I was due back to work as an independent contractor with a newspaper company whose print site is in Atlanta. That night, I chose to sleep late because of the rain. As my mother and I got in the car to leave for work, my mom pointed out to me that we forgot to put the lock on our storage unit. This caught us both off guard because we NEVER forget to lock our storage unit and we hadn't been there in about 24 hours. After we drove to the storage and locked our unit, we once again, made our way to the print site. Before we could get to the 2ND traffic light, we noticed the barricades in the streets prohibiting us from going any further. With this new discovery, I decided to drive my usual route to get to my job. Low and behold, another barricade. My mother decided to pull out her police scanner and see what was going on. We pulled into our driveway and listened to the police and dispatchers talk about the various rescue missions that they were on. We heard about the roads falling apart because of the heavy water rushing through, people were in the woods screaming for help, and the cops used ropes to try and save a few of the stranded people as well. As we sat in the driveway keeping an eye on our yard (my dog was in his kennel), and our neighbors yard which was flooding quickly, my mom and I decided to just sit there and pray. All we could do was trust that HE would work things out for us. As the morning sun began to rise, my mom and I set out to meet with my boss, and look at the damage from the night before. There were abandoned vehicles in the streets, roads and bridges washed away, many power outages, and flooded restaurants/stores. It was then that we realized just how serious the rain storm was the night before.
The next morning, we discovered that the road that I normally take to get to work was the cause of one of the 6 deaths in Douglas County. It was 2:30 am. While I was getting ready to leave for work, another lady by the name of Emeteria Lowe, had been called in to work at the retirement home due to the flooding. Mrs. Lowe was traveling down Stewarts Mill Rd when her vehicle was washed off the road due to the excessive amount of water.
Had I not decided to sleep late,
Had the lock to our storage unit Not been in the car,
Had it not been for the barricades keeping me confined,
I would have lost my life that night.
Because of God's favor, I encountered many delays that kept me from driving down that road. Because of HIS favor, I am still here. Still Standing. Forever Faithful.
